For international applicants

Information for international applicants.

$0 — you never pay us anything. Ever.International applicants pay Gaur Vision Group zero fees: no placement fee, no sponsorship fee, no hourly charge. Your own government and third-party costs (SEVIS, visa, credential evaluation, travel) are paid to the authorities, not to us.

A concise, U.S.-style résumé helps us present your capabilities clearly to school districts and can make matching faster. We welcome qualified special education teachers, TVIs, O&M specialists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, school psychologists, and related providers; the correct visa category and licensure path must be confirmed for each role.

Our fee structure, plainly stated

Your school district employs and pays you directly. Gaur Vision Group separately charges the district a placement and management fee on a declining schedule. See the current fee schedule (as of October 2026).

Your contracted salary is unchanged, and Gaur Vision Group never touches or deducts from your paycheck. Your disclosed upfront costs remain your responsibility, as listed in the J-1 cost breakdown below.

Transparency before commitment

You will see your contracted salary, the separate fee paid by the district, applicant-paid costs, and placement responsibilities before you sign. Your written agreement controls, and every salary figure is gross before ordinary taxes and any deductions you elect through the district.

For reference, Gwinnett County Public Schools—the largest public school district in Georgia—lists the following 2026–27 annual salaries for teachers with 0–2 years of creditable external experience. Select a degree level.

Gwinnett County 2026–27 school-year salary benchmark$61,146
Per month salary without deductions$5,096

Contracted salary and district-paid fee across the standard term

Enter the contracted annual salary and number of J-2 dependents. The teacher’s salary remains unchanged. Gaur Vision Group’s separate placement and management fee is paid by the district on the current declining fee schedule (as of October 2026); the calculator below applies the year-by-year rates, including the J-2 dependent adjustment. Continuations into years three through five require district approval; years four and five also require a sponsor-requested extension and government approval.

The district employs the teacher, pays the contracted salary, handles payroll, and provides applicable benefits. Gaur Vision Group never receives or deducts from the teacher’s paycheck. Extensions are decided by the district, the sponsor, and the government; we support well-documented requests. Continuations into years 3–5 require district approval. Years 4–5 also require a sponsor-requested extension and government approval; they are never guaranteed. Planning estimate only. Every salary figure is gross, before taxes and employee-elected deductions.

Upfront J-1 cost planner

  • I-901 SEVIS fee · fixed$220
  • J visa application fee · fixed$185
  • Designated sponsor program fee · typical range$0–$2,800
  • Credential evaluation · typical course-by-course$199
  • State license and background check · planning range$100–$500
  • One-way flight · planning range$800–$2,000
  • Initial temporary hotel · planning range per night$150–$300
  • Required J-1 health insurance, if separate · typical annual range$720–$1,440
  • Visa issuance / reciprocity feeCountry-specific; often $0
  • Sponsorship facilitation$0 — Gaur Vision Group charges you nothing

Typical amounts and planning ranges—not quotes. Actual costs can differ by sponsor, country, state, itinerary, and year. Sponsor fees may be paid by the school, and insurance may be bundled; confirm every item in writing before paying.

Typical all-in planning range: roughly $1,300 to $5,400+, plus temporary hotel nights and any other disclosed costs. Government fees ($220 SEVIS + $185 visa = $405) are the floor — not the total. The ranges above reflect typical amounts for sponsor fees, credential evaluation, flights, and insurance; your sponsor, country, and itinerary determine the actual total.

Simple breakaway terms

Worked worst-case district example: At a $60,000 salary, the Year 1 placement fee is $15,000. If a district ended the contract after month one and its signed agreement made the entire Year 1 fee due, with none already paid, the district’s maximum illustrated balance would be $15,000. The teacher would owe $0 of that placement fee.

There is no hidden automatic penalty. Any amount owed must be expressly itemized in the signed agreement—for example, a documented third-party cost the agreement says is reimbursable. The agreement’s notice period and final-pay terms control. Visa and sponsor consequences are separate and must be discussed with the designated sponsor.

Estimated remaining contractual amount$0

This calculator does not create or interpret a contract. If your signed agreement lists no reimbursable amount, enter $0. Final terms require legal review before the program’s first use.

How the J-1 Teacher process works

  1. Apply and complete initial screening.
  2. Interview with an interested district.
  3. Complete credential, licensure, English, and sponsor review.
  4. If accepted, the designated sponsor issues Form DS-2019.
  5. Pay applicable fees, complete the DS-160, and attend the consular interview.
  6. After visa issuance, arrange applicant-paid travel and housing.
  7. Complete orientation, school onboarding, annual cultural-exchange activities, and sponsor check-ins.

The J-1 is a temporary exchange program, not a guaranteed immigration pathway. Participants should plan to complete the limited stay and return home with experience that benefits their communities. Extensions are decided by the district, the sponsor, and the government; we support well-documented extension requests. Two-year home-residency requirement: some participants may be subject to the two-year home-residency requirement under INA §212(e); your sponsor will advise whether it applies to you.
